Summer solstice

The mares out grazing in the morning

The mares out grazing in the morning

Solstice rises as the sun moves slowly down the mountain

So early she presents herself this morning

Soothing the mountain with her gentle touch

The youthful first light of day

The subtle warmth already present

As she brushes away the last of the clouds

Heavy and plump and pink and grey

And draws her fingers down the sides

Of the snow speckled peaks

Tickling teasing softly appeasing

Down into the satiated leafed hillsides

Lush and satisfied with the frequent rains

And promises us the full day

The full life

The completeness of her world
